The reference system compensates for any drift caused by power fluctuations or changes in ambient temperature. With a stable light source, measurement values are obtained quickly and remain stable between the zero and sample measurements. A focusing lens collects all the light emerging from the cuvette, reducing errors caused by imperfections and scratches that may be present in the glass. The relatively long optical path length of the sample cuvette ensures accurate measurements, even in samples with low absorbance.
